What type of plane is a Chieftan?

Mike,
 
A friend of mine recently purchased a twin engine aircraft. He said it was a Chieftan. I assume that is a Piper product, but I am not familiar with the name. Is it a version of the Navajo?
 
I am a single engine pilot of 35 years and many hours, but don't know about this one. Help! and thanks!

Ahhh... 35 years of being around airplanes has left an impression on you. Yes, think of a Chieftain as a stretched version of a Navajo.
